What this is all about

It seems that mother nature has only given us two pleasures that never lose their attraction nor get boring: food and sexuality. Obviously, there is an abundance of literature on food and drinks, as well as on the area of sexuality that happens between two (or more) people, be it fiction, educational or self-help literature, or pornography.

Masturbation, however - the A satyr masturbating (Greek krater, 6th century BC)'other' side of sexuality - has received much less attention. In a way, this is surprising: most people begin masturbating long before their first sexual relationship. And continue to do so throughout most of their lives, irrespective of whether they have a partner or not. Certainly, the porn industry also capitalizes on this area of sexuality, and a number of books and websites suggesting how to have more fun with it have cropped up.
Statue at the Candi Sukuh temple, IndonesiaBut still, talking about masturbation is a taboo. Imagine asking your best friend - let alone a coworker - over an after-work pint 'Have you already masturbated today?', or 'What is your favourite way to jerk off?'. Quite unthinkable, isn't it? And most people even flinch from talking about it with their spouse or partner. In consequence, scarcely anybody knows whether and how others do 'it', or how it feels for them. It seems in ancient times, the attitude towards masturbation was more open, as these pictures suggest.

This website is an attempt to weaken the taboo status of 'touching oneself'. The human body is such a wonderful thing, providing us with many enjoyable possibilities which should all be cherished. At least an handful of artists have expressed this in their work... Masturbation is something that - like the other aspect of human sexuality - is good for you and can significantly enrich your life.
I encourage the view that masturbation is more than just quickly 'letting off steam', that it is nothing to be ashamed of, and there's no need for fearing bad consequences. In my view, masturbation is a wonderful way to have a richer life, something that has positive effects, and should thus be celebrated!

Obviously, A satyr masturbating (Greek krater, 6th century BC)I do not try to make a point that everybody should masturbate. But I would like to encourage those who basically find it enjoyable and acceptable (like me) to spice up their lives with more frequent, more varied and more enjoyable experiences in ways that additionally have positive effects. To this end, I not only suggest excercises or techniques as some books and resources do. I also do that, but the cornerstone of this site is my first-hand experience, in explicit text, image, and video.

I assume that still many people are ashamed of touching themselves, or even afraid it could have bad consequences, concerns we try to dispel. As to those readers who already do 'it' regularly and without feelings of guilt, I might provide suggestions for them to masturbate in more sophisticated ways and make new experiences. And I hope to motivate some of them to share their most exciting adventures and techniques on this site.
